An amazing jungle adventure in an exotic setting, the remote reaches of Papua New Guinea. Well-written and thoroughly researched, with great character development. I especially look for stories with unlikely or imperfect heroes, that have, above and beyond the entertainment, real take-home value. Jungle of Bones fills the bill on all accounts. Admittedly, I'm a bit older than the intended demographic, but readers of all ages will identify with Dylan and appreciate the lessons learned during his ordeal. This one is not to be missed, and I'll agree with other reviewers that this would make great classroom reading. - Ken Wallin, author of Falling to Eden.

Jungle of Bones Ben Mikaelsen 9780545442879 Books Reviews

I loved this book. It is very similar to Ben Mikaelsen's other books, Touching Spirit Bear and The Ghost of Spirit Bear where the main character is a troubled youth who goes through a situation that changes him. I love realistic fiction books and this is a definite "Must Read"!!!
I choose 5 stars because the book was sad and very realistic I recommended this to people ages 12 to 13 I personally had to read for summer reading as I'm am preparing for 6th grade middle school but in conclusion thus is a great book and highly recommended this book
My son loved this book! I recommend it for all ages.
Excelent!
I love realistic adventure. This is a story about a typical American teenager plopped down in the middle of the jungle. I've been to the jungle - the descriptions were very realistic. Mikaelsen did a great job of pointing out both the danger and beauty. Besides the setting, the story - the boy's internal growth - was well-told and engaging. I didn't want to put it down.
Interesting adventure story about a troubled boy's present day search for a WWII Bomber that crashed in the jungles of Papua New Guinea.
All though the books is fiction, the author did his homework as the story includes several historical facts about WWII, and the men and bombers that flew missions during that war. A great book for young readers. I liked it, and my grandson (11) said it was "awesome."
This book is perfect for readers who want to read about adventure. The book was very interesting and you learned a lot about War World 2 but it wasn't completely about World War 2 because the main character in the book is going through personal problems about losing his dad. He deals with this problem by getting into lots of trouble, he been to juvenile detention multiple times but this time his mom was sick and tired of how he was acting so she let him spend the night at the detention center. After that he was off to his Uncle's how because he needed to straiten up. His uncle was determined to find a lost plans of Dylan's grandpa in a remote place called Papua New Guiana, off the coast of Australia. Dylan doesn't want to go off course and does many things that he shouldn't have done and it could and would affect him in the future. Of course as any adventure story would happen something awful happens to the main character. This book is more of a feel good book not an educational fiction book so be careful when you choose this book because you may be looking for something else.
