Please note that this review does not reflect upon the seller, the price, or anything like that. The price, the time it took to receive the product, and everything else was fine. This two-star review instead pertains to the book itself.

I think my primary issue with the book with how much I actually disliked the main character/narrator. I'd read that this book was similar to "The Hating Game," which I loved, and that is why I decided to purchase it. However, Daisy was nothing like Lucy, the heroine and narrator of "The Hating Game." Whereas Lucy was funny and easy to relate to, Daisy came off as condescending, immature, and not someone you'd like to be around in real life, even though she and Lucy were supposed to be about the same age. It was very hard to buy that Daisy was a mature, professional doctor in this story. I felt like I was reading the diary of a 17 year old girl who hadn't yet graduated high school, let alone medical school or college.

Lucas, Daisy's rival and potential love interest, was okay but other than Daisy complaining about him and then softening towards him you learn almost nothing about him. I really wish we had seen things through his eyes, too, maybe then I would have understood why the heck he liked Daisy!!! The only thing I can actually remember about him was that he went to the gym a lot, and he looked like Henry Cavill (according to Daisy, anyway). To have put up with Daisy, he also probably would have had to have the patience of a saint!

I liked some of the one-liners in this book, but that was about it. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this one.

Anything You Can Do edition by RS Grey Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet because it appears I'm the last man standing who hadn't read this book. I'm admittedly late to the game, Anything You Can Do being my first from this author. But a binge of RS Grey's work is now imminent. I'm officially a fan and I'm planning on devouring the rest of her books immediately.

Anything You Can Do was a breath of fresh air for so many reasons. I absolutely love a good enemies to lovers romance and this one was PERFECTION. I'm a sucker for a good office romance and RS Grey's refreshing spin on such a popular trope was EVERYTHING. In a reading climate where everything feels like it follows the same mold, where stories overlap in my head, where books rarely stand out, Anything You Can Do was a refreshing change of pace. Enemies to lovers romances, especially in the workplace, is fast becoming such a popular trend and it's a theme I can't get enough of. But RS Grey's spin stands out. This story line feels new and shiny and fresh while still hitting all the buttons I crave.

These characters. Enough said. They're quirky and funny and their chemistry is on fire.

The WRITING. A storyline can be hit or miss but it's an author's writing style that really determines if I'll pick up their other books. Grey's writing blew me away. The writing in this book is so sharp, so brilliant, so damn SMART. I was an insta-fan from page ONE. I got lost in these words, in the story they illustrated, in the feelings they pulled out of me. I can't wait to dive into her other work.

The romance. This story was SO steamy, so sweet, so perfectly paced. The push and pull was spot on. The evolution of this story line couldn't have been done more superbly. From start to finish, this story held me captive with the sharp banter and the sexual tension between these characters. Their romance is magic. I loved it.

It's SO rare that I'm blown away by a RomCom. I like a RomCom when I'm in the mood, but typically I'm a reader that prefers a deep, though-provoking story full of angst and heart. It's rare to be able to check off all those boxes in one book. This book is laugh out loud funny, completely heart warming, but it's also layered beautifully and it tugs at the heartstrings in that pleasurable, painful way I love. This book has it all. it's the full package and I cant say how much I loved it enough.
I think this book is a lot better than I give it credit for. Here's my reasoning I read this right after The Hating Game. Just don't do that. They're both pretty stellar books, but Lucy from THG was like my ultimate girl crush/kindred spirit, and Daisy from Anything You Can Do is not. While I can totally understand the hating game Daisy and Lucas have going on, its much, much more hate than Lucy and Joshua, and it seems more intense and spiteful Of course, if Lucy and Joshua had been playing the hating game for their entire lives, it probably would have been just as intense!

Daisy is sweet and excited to be taking over her hometown's small medical practice. Its her dream, something she worked for all through college and her residency. She worked hard for her dream... only to have it turn into a nightmare with the knowledge of one person returning to their small town Lucas Thatcher. Rivalry started since birth, Daisy is not one to just hand the practice or {god forbid} share it. Daisy and Lucas try everything to get the other person to give up and hand over the office, from pranks to actually attempting to cause each other physical harm.

While Daisy loathes Lucas {and the whole town has known it since day one}, an interesting twist happens about halfway through the book when the reader is given a glimpse into Lucas' mind. I love that the author added this little insight, because it brings a new light on Lucas and everything that's going on between him and Daisy. This little bit that the author gives us is pure gold, and I love that she included it. It makes the book just that much more enjoyable.

My only advice I would give to other readers is to read Anything You Can Do before The Hating Game. They are both amazing books, but the latter kind of overshadows the former. If I could do it again , I'd read them in that order. Both are amazing in their own way {while being similar}, and that's would have been the best way for me to enjoy them! That being said, I plan on getting another R.S. Grey book ASAP!
