Unravel Calia Read Books

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, Calia Read writes beautiful prose and crafted an interesting story. On the other hand, the explicit sex scenes were gratuitous. Don't get me wrong, they are artfully described and I have no qualms with sexual content in a novel, but when there are back to back chapters in which 85% of the chapter is sex, I think that's overkill. Furthermore, it led me to believe that the narrator only knew how to connect with others through sex. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but having finished the book, this does fit with her character and background, but it was still annoying. As many other reviewers have mentioned, there is a big twist revealed at the end of the story. I don't consider myself particularly clever, but I did figure out the twist about halfway through the novel. However, I wasn't 100% sure that my suspicions were accurate, so I was still invested in the story, because I wanted confirmation. Also, figuring out the twist in advance made me appreciate Read's writing craft more, because she subtly layers in clues throughout the story, but you won't notice unless you've figured out the big twist. I'd still recommend this book to someone, but I would give them fair warning first about the predominance of lengthy sex scenes.

Unravel Calia Read Books Reviews

This is my second Calia Read book and hoo boy, I loved it more than Figure Eight!

I've had it on my kindle for a while, now. Sitting there, waiting to be read. I know for sure, had I read it sooner, I wouldn't have loved it. My tastes have changed, throughout the years. Heck, with each book I read they change!

Because let me tell you, this book is an on-going of 'what the heck is going on?'. In the best way, of course!

It all begins with our heroine, Naomi, in a psych ward. The hero - or whom we presume is the hero - is also presented. Lachlan. Man, this book may not be a romance - or maybe it's a dark romance [heavy on the dark] - but the hero is perfect.

Everything is told through Naomi's POV, and the action takes place both in the past and present, shifting, changing, giving us a morsel at a time, making us want more, more and more.

At least, I wanted more.

I have to say, Ms. Read is a genius when it comes to twists and turns that give my heart the best kind of palpitations! When it all started to make sense, I was both sad and happy - sad about what had happened, but happy to finally have found out. So, it was bittersweet.

I'm definitely considering myself a new fan of Ms. Read and will definitely read more of her books.

5 stars.
Oh my gosh, I don’t think I’ve read anything as good as this in a while. I knew there was going to be a twist or something but didn’t exactly figure it out. I kept thinking is it this or no maybe it’s ..... or wait maybe it’s..... I just kept thinking back and forth of so many different ideas. Let me just say it had me speechless. At one point my heart was pounding, and I felt like my breathing was tight. And let me also just say, it had my head going crazy and in a mess unable to concentrate when I got to the last two little chapters of the book. I was almost done reading when I had to stop and run out for an appointment, and it was killing me. All I wanted to do was to just finish reading the book. Seriously I was dying to read the rest, and to find out what was all going to happen.
I can’t really say anything else, because I don’t know how to say anything without giving anything away. All I can say is this book definitely doesn’t disappoint.
I know this isn’t exactly a new book, but I think it’s the best I’ve read this year and wish I had read it sooner. This is also the first book by this author that I have read, and I’m thinking I might have to check out what other book this author has written.

“I’ll tell you.” She sits there calmly, waiting for me to tell my story. But before I say a word, I hold her gaze. Pay attention, I say with my eyes. Listen closely. Hang on to every word. But most of all, please believe me.”

“know this isn’t easy for you. Just remember that even the purest of souls have darkness in them. It might be hard to spot. Perhaps they’ve perfected the art of covering it from the world. Or maybe it’s hidden in a dark corner of their mind. But it’s there. No one in this world is scar free.”
2.5 stars.

It's just not my style. It's not that it was bad. In fact it was probably good. It's just that it didn't turn into a thriller until the last fifty pages. And I read this because I wanted a thriller.

280 pages of romance, romance, romance. And the romance was written really well... it's just that I don't like books that are centered around the highs and lows of relationships. I would have been happy with the romance if it were the subplot and the triller aspect were the plot. But that just isn't what happened. It was like I read two separate stories that were oddly connected in the end.

That being said, THE ENDING WAS SO GOOD!!! I would have given this about one star were it not for the last 50 pages. But the last 50 pages were mind blowing. I had predictions and they were all wrong! I'm so happy with the purpose of this book. I just wish the rest of the story reflected the point or even the genre of the novel.
